Antananarivo, August 4-5, 2025 – Preparatory work for the 45th Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government officially began in the Malagasy capital with the holding of a meeting of senior officials and experts from Member States to review the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP 2020-2030).
For two days, delegates focused on this regional roadmap, a strategic compass aimed at promoting sustainable, inclusive, and integrated development within the Southern African Development Community. The discussions focused on progress made, ongoing challenges, and the outlook for 2030.
The Malagasy delegation, led by Mr. Eric Ratsimbazaffy, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, actively participated in the discussions, affirming Madagascar’s commitment to fully contributing to the realization of regional ambitions.
This meeting marks a key step in the preparatory process for the 45th SADC Summit, scheduled for August 17, 2025, in Antananarivo, and is in line with this year’s theme:
“Promoting industrialization, agricultural transformation, and energy transition for a resilient SADC.”
This theme reflects not only the collective aspirations of member countries, but also the convergence between SADC Vision 2050, the RISDP 2020-2030, and Madagascar’s national development priorities.
The decisions resulting from these discussions will outline the region’s future. By hosting these strategic discussions, Madagascar is affirming its place at the heart of the regional dynamic for a more resilient, innovative, and united Southern Africa.
