Antananarivo, August 4, 2025 – Senior officials and sectoral experts from the member states of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) are gathered in Antananarivo for two days of discussions dedicated to the mid-term review of the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) 2020-2030, as well as to the operationalization of the SADC Resource Mobilization Framework.

Held from August 4 to 5, 2025, this meeting brings together high-level decision-makers and specialists from the 16 member countries. The goal: to review the results achieved since the launch of the RISDP, the roadmap for regional integration, and to discuss ways to ensure sustainable funding for regional priorities.

The work is conducted under the presidency of H.E. Ambassador Albert Ranganai Chimbindi, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe, and current chair of the Permanent Committee of Senior Officials of SADC.

Speaking on behalf of the Executive Secretary of SADC, Mr. Elias Magosi, the Deputy Executive Secretary responsible for regional integration, Ms. Angéle Makombo N’Tumba, emphasized the importance of the topics discussed: “The Mid-Term Review of the RISDP provides us with a valuable opportunity to assess the progress made and to address any potential gaps. As for the Resource Mobilization Framework, it serves as a fundamental lever to build a resilient and financially autonomous SADC.”

The outcomes of these discussions will inform the recommendations that will be submitted to the SADC Council of Ministers, before their review at the 45th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for August 17, 2025, in Antananarivo.
