Antananarivo, August 4, 2025 – The Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), H.E. Elias M. Magosi, paid a courtesy visit to the Malagasy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Rasata Rafaravavitafika, as part of the preparations for the 45th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government scheduled for August 17 in Antananarivo.
During this meeting, the minister presented a progress report on the logistical and diplomatic organization of the Summit. The Executive Secretary, for his part, praised the involvement of the Malagasy authorities in hosting this high-level regional meeting, which gathers the Heads of State or Government of the 16 member countries.
The Summit is the supreme decision-making body of SADC, responsible for defining the major political and strategic directions of the Community.
On this occasion, the President of the Republic of Madagascar, H.E. Andry Rajoelina, will officially take the presidency of the SADC, succeeding H.E. Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

Member of SADC since August 2005, Madagascar is preparing to play a central role in regional cooperation and the collective response to the major challenges of the continent.
