Antananarivo, August 6, 2025. On the sidelines of the preparatory work for the 45th Ordinary Summit of the SADC, a solemn ceremony for the handover of the presidency of the Standing Committee of Senior Officials of the Southern African Development Community will take place today in Antananarivo.

H.E. Ambassador Albert Ranganai Chimbindi, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe, will officially transfer the presidency of the Committee to Mr. Eric RATSIMBAZAFY, Secretary General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Madagascar.

This handover symbolizes the passing of the baton between the outgoing president country and Madagascar, the host country of the 45th SADC Summit, which is about to take on the presidency of the regional organization for a one-year term.

This renewed responsibility reflects Madagascar’s commitment to actively work for a united, integrated, and prosperous SADC, serving the peoples of the region.
