Antananarivo, August 6, 2025 – The Malagasy capital hosted on Wednesday the official ceremony for the handover of the presidency of the Standing Committee of Senior Officials of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
On this occasion, H.E. Ambassador Albert Ranganai Chimbindi, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe, handed over the torch to Mr. Eric RATSIMBAZAFY, Secretary General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Madagascar.
This moment marks a new phase in the preparation for the 45th Ordinary Summit of the SADC, which Madagascar is organizing this year. The country will also hold the presidency of the regional organization for the next twelve months.
By accessing this function, Madagascar intends to play an active role in regional efforts aimed at strengthening integration, boosting development, and consolidating solidarity among member states.
