Ambohimanga Rova
Ambohimanga, 24 km northeast of Antananarivo, is a sacred hill and former royal palace, a major symbol of the cultural identity of the Merina people. Listed as one of the twelve sacred hills of the Imerina, it is home to royal residences, burial sites and ritual areas that are still frequented today.
A spiritual, political and historical site, Ambohimanga was the place where Andrianampoinimerina, the king who founded the unity of the kingdom, proclaimed his laws and asserted his power through symbolic rituals.

Musée de la Photographie
Created in 2013, the Musée de la Photographie de Madagascar’s mission is to preserve and enhance Madagascar’s visual heritage through the digitization of photographs taken between 1853 and 1972.
Open to the public since 2018 in a restored traditional house in Antananarivo’s Upper Town, it offers themed screenings, an exhibition room, a contemporary photography garden and a coffee shop.
